  "text": "(This note is not part of the Order)\nThis Order brings into force section 12(4) of the Academies Act 2010 (“the Act”) on 1st August 2011.\nSection 12(1) of the Act provides that where Academy proprietors are qualifying Academy proprietors as defined in section 12(2), they are charities. Section 12(4) of the Act amends Schedule 2 to the Charities Act 1993 to provide that qualifying Academy proprietors are exempt charities and will thus not need to register with, or be regulated by, the Charities Commission. An exempt charity is regulated by its principal regulator appointed under section 13(4) of the Charities Act 2006.",
