  "text": "Every person who on 9th July 1973 is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies—\n(a) having become such a citizen under the British Nationality Act 1948 by virtue of his having been naturalised in the former Colony of the Bahamas Islands before that Act come into force; or\n(b) having become such a citizen by virtue of his having been naturalised in the former Colony of the Bahama Islands under that Act,\nshall become a citizen of The Bahamas on 9th July 1974, unless, prior to that date, he has in such manner as may be prescribed declared that he does not desire to become a citizen of The Bahamas:\nProvided that this section shall not apply to a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies who on 9th July 1973 possesses the citizenship or nationality of some other country.",
