  "text": "(This note is not part of the Order.)\nThe Beef (Emergency Control) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 (as the principal Order) prohibited the sale in Northern Ireland of any meat from bovine animals slaughtered after 28th March 1996 and which at the time of slaughter were more than 2½ years of age. This Order amends the principal Order to exclude from the scope of that prohibition meat from bovine animals that were born, reared and slaughtered in countries specified in the Schedule inserted by Article 2(b).",
