(This note is not part of the Order)

British Telecommunications was established by the British Telecommunications Act 1981 (1981 c. 38) (“the 1981 Act”) to exercise such powers and duties as were set out in the 1981 Act.

The Secretary of State by Order under section 60(1) of the Telecommunications Act 1984 (1984 c. 12) transferred all the property rights and liabilities to which British Telecommunications was entitled or subject to a successor company to be nominated.

By the Telecomunications Act 1984 (Nominated Company) Order 1984 (S.I. 1984/886), British Telecommunications plc was so nominated.

This Order dissolves British Telecommunications.
