# The Building (Inner London) Regulations 1985, Note: Explanatory note

These regulations bring into force for inner London—
(1) The sections of the Building Act 1984 specified in regulation 2(3);
(2) The Building Regulations 1985;
(3) The Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 1985; and
(4) The Building (Prescribed Fees etc.) Regulations 1985.
Minor amendments, mainly concerning drainage, are made to those Regulations which already apply to the rest of England and Wales (regulation 2(2) and Schedule 2). Certain sections of the London Building Acts 1930 to 1939 and other Acts are modified or repealed and certain Greater London Council byelaws are revoked (regulation 3 and Schedules 3 and 4).
`Inner London' means the area comprising the inner London boroughs, the City of London, the Inner Temple and the Middle Temple.
The existing building control procedures in inner London will continue to apply to buildings, structures or works which are not completed when the regulations come into force provided specified steps have already been taken (regulation 4).
