Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order gives effect to a Scheme of the Charity Commissioners for the Charity called The President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer, and Members of the School for the Indigent Blind (otherwise known as The Royal School for the Blind), a Charity founded in the Parish of St. George the Martyr, in the London Borough of Southwark, in 1799.
The Charity is regulated by Acts of Parliament dated 1826, 1831 and 1865.
The Scheme alters the provision made by those Acts of Parliament. It includes provisions for the administration of the Charity and application of its income. The changes include the widening of the beneficial class to include any handicapped person with sensory impairment.
