  "heading": "Application of the Rules",
  "text": "(1) Subject to paragraph (2) and (4), these Rules apply to all proceedings in—\n(a) the County Court;\n(b) the High Court; and\n(c) the Civil Division of the Court of Appeal.\n(2) These Rules do not apply to proceedings of the kinds specified in the first column of the following Table (proceedings for which rules may be made under the enactments specified in the second column) except to the extent that they are applied to those proceedings by another enactment—\nProceedings\nEnactments\n1 Insolvency proceedings\nInsolvency Act 1986, ss.411 and 412\n2 Non-contentious or common form probate proceedings\nSupreme Court Act 1981, s.127\n3 Proceedings in the High Court when acting as a Prize Court\nPrize Courts Act 1894, s.3\n4 Proceedings before the Court of Protection\nMental Capacity Act 2005, s.51\n5 Family proceedings\nCourts Act 2003, s.75\n6 Adoption proceedings\n... or Adoption and Children Act 2002, s.141 or Courts Act 2003, s.75\n7 Election petitions in the High Court\nRepresentation of the People Act 1983, s.182\n(3) These Rules apply to proceedings under—\n(a) the Companies Act 1985;\n(b) the Companies Act 2006; and\n(c) other legislation relating to companies and limited liability partnerships,\nsubject to the provisions of the relevant practice direction which applies to those proceedings.\n(4) Where proceedings are governed by Online Procedure Rules, these Rules do not apply to those proceedings except as provided by—\n(a) the Online Procedure Rules;\n(b) practice directions under paragraph 1 of Schedule 3 to the Judicial Review and Courts Act 2022; or\n(c) regulations under section 21(1)(b) of that Act.",
