  "heading": "Section 85: meaning of “relevant local authority” and “relevant police force”",
  "text": "(1) This section applies for the purposes of section 85.\n(2) “Relevant local authority” means—\n(a) if a relevant child resides in England or Wales, the local authority in whose area the child is believed to reside, or\n(b) if the person making the notification does not know the local authority area in which any relevant child resides, such local authority as the person making the notification considers appropriate.\n(3) “Relevant police force” means—\n(a) if a person believed to be involved in the suspected offence resides in England and Wales, the police force for the area in which the person is believed to reside, or\n(b) if the person making the notification—\n(i) does not know the police area in which any person believed to be involved in the suspected offence resides, or\n(ii) believes that each person believed to be involved in the suspected offence resides outside England and Wales,\nsuch police force in England and Wales as the person making the notification considers appropriate.\n(4) In this section “local authority” has the same meaning as in the Children Act 2004 (see section 65).\n(5) Section 85(11)(b) (references to “involved in the suspected offence”) applies for the purposes of this section.",
