# The Criminal Procedure Rules 2025, Rule 4.8: Service by person in custody

Extent: E+W

(1) A person in custody may serve a document by handing it to the custodian addressed to the person to be served.
(2) The custodian must—
(a) endorse it with the time and date of receipt;
(b) record its receipt; and
(c) forward it promptly to the addressee.
