# The Croydon Tramlink (Penalty Fares) Order 2000, Introduction: Introductory text

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 45 of the Croydon Tramlink Act 1994 and at the request of Tramtrack Croydon Limited in exercise of the functions conferred on it by article 2 of the Croydon Tramlink (Transfer of Functions) Order 1996 hereby makes the following Order:–
