  "heading": "Short title, interpretation, repeals and extent.",
  "text": "(1) This Act may be cited as the Currency Act 1983.\n(2) In this Act—\n“the Bank” means the Bank of England; and\n“bank notes” means notes of the Bank payable to bearer on demand.\n(3) The enactments mentioned in the Schedule to this Act (which include a spent provision) are hereby repealed to the extent specified in the third column of that Schedule.\n(4) This Act extends to Northern Ireland.",
