# The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 Amendment Regulations 2012, Paragraph 17


All authorised procedures shall be carried out under general or local anaesthesia unless—
(a) anaesthesia would be more traumatic to the animal concerned than the procedures themselves; or
(b) anaesthesia would be incompatible with the purposes of the procedures.
