# The Immigration (Biometric Registration) (Pilot) Regulations 2008, Regulation 2: Citation, commencement and interpretation


In these Regulations —
“dependant” means a spouse or civil partner, or a child under the age of 18;
“immigration rules” means rules made under section 3(2) of the Immigration Act 1971;
“public enquiry office” means the office of the Home Office in Croydon where a person can make an application in person for leave to remain.
