# The Northern Ireland Assembly (Elections) (Amendment) Order 2009, Introduction: Introductory text


Draft Order laid before Parliament under section 96(2)(b) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (c. 47), for approval by resolution of each House of Parliament. This draft instrument replaces the one which was laid on 5 November 2008 and withdrawn on 20 November 2008 before having been published.

Coming into force in accordance with Article 1(2)
In accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(h) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, the Electoral Commission has been consulted prior to making this Order.
A draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 96(2)(b) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
Accordingly, the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34(4) to (6), and 35(1), (2) and (5) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, makes the following Order:
