The Mental Health Act 1983f1 is amended as follows.

In section 134 (correspondence of patients), in subsection (3)(e)f2, for “or a” substitute “, a” and at the end insert “or a provider of probation services”.

Section 134(3)(e) was amended by the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000 (c.43), Schedule 7, paragraphs 72 and 74, the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002 (c.17), section 19(6), S.I. 2000/90, S.I. 2002/2469 and S.I. 2007/961, and is to be amended by the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 (c.28), Schedule 18, Part 18, from a date to be appointed.
