# The Registration of Marriages Regulations 2021, Paragraph 36: Amendment of Part 4 of the 1949 Act (registration of marriages)


(1) Section 63 of the 1949 Act (searches in register books) is amended as follows.
(2) In subsection (1)—
(a) omit “registering”;
(b) for “shall at all reasonable hours” substitute “may”;
(c) omit “, and shall give a copy certified under his hand of any entry in such a book”.
(3) In subsection (2), for “having the custody of” substitute “responsible for keeping”.
