# The Renewables Obligation Order 2005, Introduction: Introductory text


Draft Order laid before Parliament under section 32(9) of the Electricity Act 1989, for approval by resolution of each House of Parliament.

Whereas a draft of this instrument was laid before Parliament in accordance with section 32(9) of the Electricity Act 1989 and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament;
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by sections 32 to 32C of the Electricity Act 1989 and having consulted the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority, the Gas and Electricity Consumer Council, electricity suppliers to whom this Order applies, and such generators of electricity from renewable sources and other persons as she considers appropriate, hereby makes the following Order:
