# The Drivers' Hours (Passenger Vehicles) (Exemptions) (Amendment) Regulations 1970, Note: Explanatory note

The Drivers' Hours (Passenger Vehicles) (Exemptions) Regulations 1970 provide (inter alia) an exemption from the requirements of section 96(3) of the Transport Act 1968 (which specifies the length of a working day for drivers of passenger vehicles) to enable such drivers to meet a special need. These Regulations amend the 1970 Regulations to provide a similar exemption where the special need is for the carriage of handicapped persons for certain social and recreational purposes.
