  "text": "(1) For the purposes of paragraph 2, the value in points of–\n(a) a grade awarded in a GCSE examination, and\n(b) the award of a vocational qualification,\nshall be determined as follows.\n(2) Subject to sub-paragraph (3), a GCSE grade shall have the value in points specified in the following table–\nTable\nGCSE grade\nValue in points\nA*\n8\nA\n7\nB\n6\nC\n5\nD\n4\nE\n3\nF\n2\nG\n1\n(3) Where the grade awarded relates to a GCSE short course examination, it shall have the value in points determined in accordance with the above table divided by two.\n(4) The award of a vocational qualification (other than a GNVQ Language Unit) shall have the value in points specified in the following table–\nTable\nPart 1 GNVQ\nPart 1 GNVQ\nIntermediate GNVQ\nFoundation GNVQ\nIntermediate\nFoundation\nGrade\nValue in points\nValue in points\nValue in points\nValue in points\nDistinction\n15\n8\n30\n16\nMerit\n12\n6\n24\n12\nPass\n10\n3\n20\n6\n(5) The award of a GNVQ Language Unit shall have the following value in points–\n(a) 3.5 points (where it is an Intermediate level Unit), or\n(b) 2 points (where it is a Foundation level Unit).",
