  "text": "(1) For the purposes of paragraph 2, the value of points of—\n(a) a grade awarded in a GCSE examination, and\n(b) the award of a vocational qualification,\nshall be determined as follows.\n(2) Subject to sub-paragraph (3), a GCSE or vocational GCSE grade shall have the value in points specified in the following table—\nTable\nGrade\nGCSE Value in points\nVocational GCSE Value in Points\nA*\n8\n16\nA\n7\n14\nB\n6\n12\nC\n5\n10\nD\n4\n8\nE\n3\n6\nF\n2\n4\nG\n1\n2\n(3) Where the grade awarded relates to a GCSE short course examination, it shall have the value in points determined in accordance with the above table divided by two.\n(4) The award of other vocational qualifications (other than a GNVQ Language Unit) shall have the value in points specified in the following table—\nTable\nGrade\nPart I GNVQ Intermediate Value in points\nPart I GNVQ Foundation Value in Points\nIntermediate GNVQ Value in Points\nFoundation GNVQ Value in points\nDistinction\n15\n8\n30\n16\nMerit\n12\n6\n24\n12\nPass\n10\n3\n20\n6\n(5) The award of a GNVQ Language Unit shall have the following value in points—\n(a) 3.5 points (where it is an Intermediate level Unit), or\n(b) 2 points (where it is a Foundation level Unit).",
