Explanatory note

This Order, which comes into force on 11th October 2001 is made under section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994. It designates Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Council of the City of Westminster, Harrow London Borough Council, Kingston upon Thames Royal Borough Council, Lewisham Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council, Southampton City Council, Telford and Wrekin Council and Waltham Forest London Borough Council as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.

As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the designated institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
