# The Education (Grammar School Designation) Order 1998, Article 2: Designation of grammar schools


The schools specified in the Schedule to this Order (which are maintained by the local education authorities specified in the left hand column of that Schedule or, in the case of grant-maintained schools within the meaning of the Education Act 1996, situated in the areas of those authorities) are designated as grammar schools for the purposes of Chapter II of Part III of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
