  "text": "(This note is not part of the Regulations)\nThese Regulations amend the Education (Lower Primary Class Sizes) (Scotland) Regulations 1999 (S.I. 1999/1080) (“the principal Regulations”).\nRegulation 2 of these Regulations amends regulation 3 of the principal Regulations to make the class size maximum for primary 1 classes 25 pupils, subject to the limited provision for excepted pupils made by regulation 4 of the principal Regulations. The new class size maximum for primary 1 applies to the 2011/12 school year and each subsequent school year thereafter.",
