These Regulations amend the Education (School Day and School Year) (England) Regulations 1999.

Regulation 3 is amended so that the length of the 2001–2002 school year is reduced by one day, from 380 sessions to 378 sessions for schools maintained by the local education authority and special schools not so maintained.

A new regulation 5 is added so that the maximum number of sessions devoted to training is increased by two sessions in the 2001–2002 school year for training relating to the teaching of pupils at the school in the third key stage.
