# The Education (School Performance Information) (England) Regulations 2001, Paragraph 1


(1) The number of pupils of compulsory school age registered at any time on or before the Friday before the last Monday in May during the reporting school year.
(2) For the purposes of this Schedule, a pupil is of compulsory school age unless before 1st September in the reporting school year—
(a) he has not attained the age of five years; or
(b) he has attained the age of sixteen years.
