  "heading": "Qualifying conditions for the maintenance grant",
  "text": "(1) A current system student who is not a 2016 cohort student qualifies in accordance with this regulation for a maintenance grant in connection with the student's attendance on a designated course (other than a distance learning course).\n(2) A current system student does not qualify for a maintenance grant if the student qualifies for a special support grant.\n(3) If a current system student does not qualify for a fee loan in respect of an academic year of the designated course, the student cannot qualify for a maintenance grant for that year unless the reason that the student does not qualify for a fee loan is that—\n(a) the year is an Erasmus year in accordance with regulation 19(2).\n(b) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\n(4) A current system student does not qualify for a maintenance grant if the current course is the graduate entry accelerated programme.\n(5) Subject to paragraph (6), a maintenance grant is payable to a current system student in respect of the four quarters of the academic year.\n(6) Where any of the following events occur in the course of an academic year, a student may qualify for a maintenance grant in respect of such quarters of the academic year as begin after the relevant event occurs—\n(a) a course designation event which results in the student’s course becoming a designated course; or\n(b) an event falling within regulation 2A(2)(c), (d), (e) or (f), or 2A(3)(a), (b) or (c), which results in the student becoming an eligible student.\n(7) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .",
