# The Election Petition (Amendment) Rules 2003, Note: Explanatory note


(This note is not part of the Rules)
These Rules make it clear that periods of time prescribed by the Election Petition Rules 1960 may be varied by the court or by the parties unless they are governed by section 119 of the Representation of the People Act 1983.
