# The Electricity (Connection Charges) Regulations 2017, Introduction: Introductory text

The Secretary of State has consulted the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority in accordance with paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 5B to the Electricity Act 1989.
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 19(3A), 60(3) and 64(1) of, and Schedule 5B to, the Electricity Act 1989, the Secretary of State makes the following Regulations:
