# The Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations 2018, Paragraph 2: Authorisations: hazardous waste mixing


(1) The activities in sub-paragraph (3) must not be authorised under these Regulations unless SEPA is satisfied that conditions can be imposed so as to ensure—
(a) the level of environmental harm is not increased as a result of the activities, and
(b) the mixing operation conforms to best available techniques.
(2) The activities in sub-paragraph (3) may only be authorised by permit or registration.
(3) The activities are—
(a) the mixing of different categories of hazardous waste,
(b) the mixing of hazardous waste with waste which is not hazardous waste, or with other substances or materials, including the dilution of hazardous substances.
