"text": "Tail lamps\nTwo indicator lamps shall be provided at each end of the trainset, arranged on the horizontal axis at the same height above the railhead, symmetrical to the centre line, and at least 1 300 mm apart.\nIt is recommended that the indicator lamps be mounted level between 1 600 mm and 2 000 mm above the railhead. As a general rule each lamp shall provide a source of red light at least 170 mm in diameter.\nShould available space be limited then a horizontal width down to 110 mm may be permitted, as long as the technical performance of the lamp is not compromised.\nA single switch shall be provided to allow both tail lamps at the extremity of the train to be extinguished simultaneously. It is permitted to provide a means of changing the colour aspect of the lamps.\nThe optical system of the tail lamps shall be designed to provide a red light intensity of:\nat least 15 candelas in the direction of travel,\nat least 7,5 candelas at an angle of 15° to the horizontal and 5° to the vertical in the direction of travel.\nFixed indicator lamps\nTwo electric fixed indicator lamps shall be provided at each end of interoperable trainsets mounted level on the same horizontal axis between 1 600 mm and 2 000 mm above the railhead.\nThe distance between the two indicator lamps shall be as great as possible, without falling below 1 300 mm; in exceptional cases this distance can be brought down to 1 000 mm for rolling stock with tapered nose cones.\nIn addition, interoperable trainsets must be built to accept at each extremity a third fixed electric indicator lamp situated on the centre line above the windscreen.\nThe lower two fixed lamps shall contain a device to provide either a white or a red aspect, except when the lamps contain superimposed optical elements.\nIt is recommended that the switch to change the colour aspect be situated inside the vehicle. In addition, it is recommended that separate controls for the electrical signals be provided with lamps able to accept colour screens (yellow or green).\nLamps can be equipped with an electrical commutation device to allow them to act as headlights.\nHeadlight controls\nHeadlamps on rolling stock designed for high speed operation shall be provided with the following functions:\noff,\ndimmed sidelight,\nfull sidelight,\ndimmed headlight,\nfull-beam headlight.\nMeasured along the centre line, the luminosity of each lamp in each set of lamps shall correspond to the values indicated in the table below:\nLuminous intensity in cd (candela) (charged battery)\nThe upper limit of the beam ist at a downward angle of 5° 30' to the orizontal centre line.\nSets position\nDimmed side-light\nFull sidelight\nDimmed headlight\nFull-beam headlight\nLower headlights\n100\n300/700\n12 000/16 000\n50 000/70 000\nFront lights\n50\n150/350\n12 000/16 000\n12 000/16 000",
