  "text": "Commission Decision\nof 9 February 2006\namending Decision 96/335/EC establishing an inventory and a common nomenclature of ingredients employed in cosmetic products\n(Text with EEA relevance)\n(2006/257/EC)\nTHE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,\nHaving regard to the Treaty establishing the European Community,\nHaving regard to Council Directive 76/768/EEC of 27 July 1976 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to cosmetic products, and in particular Article 5a(3) and Article 7(2) thereof,\nAfter consultation of the Scientific Committee for Cosmetic Products and Non-Food Products intended for Consumers,\nWhereas:\n(1)\nIn accordance with information supplied by the industry concerned, the inventory and the common nomenclature of ingredients employed in cosmetic products set out in the Annex to Decision 96/335/EC need to be updated.\n(2)\nSection I in the Annex to Decision 96/335/EC should be updated to ensure the scientific accuracy and validity of some existing entries as well as of new entries, and to improve the botanical entries as well as the definitions and classes of functions.\n(3)\nIt has been proven necessary to substantially revise the Nomenclature Conventions set out in the Annex to Decision 96/335/EC in order to make them clearer and to adapt them to the changes in the International nomenclature of cosmetic ingredients (INCI).\n(4)\nThe list of abbreviations set out in the Annex to Decision 96/335/EC should be adapted to take into account the introduction of new ingredients in the inventory.\n(5)\nDecision 96/335/EC should therefore be amended accordingly.\n(6)\nThe measures provided for in this Decision are in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Cosmetic Products,\nHAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:",
