  "text": "EU environment statistics are driven by requests for high quality, comprehensive, reliable and relevant statistics, accounts and indicators to further develop, implement and monitor the Community’s environmental policy, in particular the sixth Environmental Action Programme and its ‘Thematic Strategies’, the environmental objectives of the EU Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) and the Lisbon Strategy, and the Cardiff process on the integration of environmental concerns into all policy areas. At present only statistics on waste and environmental expenditure are collected under legal cover.",
