Council Decision 2008/482/CFSP

of 23 June 2008

amending Decision 2008/134/CFSP on the European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to Council Joint Action 2005/797/CFSP of 14 November 2005 on the European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories^f1, and in particular Article 14(2) thereof, in conjunction with the second indent of Article 23(2) of the Treaty on European Union,

Whereas:

On 14 November 2005 the Council adopted Joint Action 2005/797/CFSP establishing a European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS) for a period of three years. The operational phase of EUPOL COPPS started on 1 January 2006.

On 18 February 2008 the Council adopted Decision 2008/134/CFSP implementing Joint Action 2005/797/CFSP on the European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories^f2, which established a financial reference amount to cover the expenditure related to EUPOL COPPS for the period from 1 March 2008 to 31 December 2008.

The financial reference amount for EUPOL COPPS should be increased in order to allow for the reinforcement of its activities,
