  "text": "Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council\nof 14 January 2009\nappointing the European Data Protection Supervisor and the Assistant Supervisor\n(2009/30/EC)\nTHE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,\nHaving regard to Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, and in particular Article 42(1) thereof,\nHaving regard to the proposal of a list of candidates drawn up by the Commission on 21 October 2008, in accordance with Article 42(1) of Regulation (EC) No 45/2001, following a public call for candidates, with a view to the appointment of the European Data Protection Supervisor and the Assistant Supervisor,\nWhereas the European Data Protection Supervisor and the Assistant Supervisor must be appointed by common accord between the European Parliament and the Council, for a period of five years from 17 January 2009,\nHAVE DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:",
