  "text": "Council Decision 2009/907/CFSP\nof 8 December 2009\namending Joint Action 2008/851/CFSP on a European Union military operation to contribute to the deterrence, prevention and repression of acts of piracy and armed robbery off the Somali coast\nTHE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,\nHaving regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Articles 28 and 43(2) thereof,\nWhereas:\n(1)\nOn 10 November 2008, the Council adopted Joint Action 2008/851/CFSP on a European Union military operation to contribute to the deterrence, prevention and repression of acts of piracy and armed robbery off the Somali coast.\n(2)\nIn light of experience from the first year of the operation, amendments to Joint Action 2008/851/CFSP are required in order to allow for the European Union naval force to contribute to the monitoring of fishing activities off the coast of Somalia.\n(3)\nActs of piracy and armed robbery off the Somali coast continue to threaten shipping in the area and especially the delivery of food aid to the Somali population by the World Food Programme.\n(4)\nTherefore, it is necessary to extend the operation for another year.\n(5)\nOn 30 November 2009 United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1897 (2009).\n(6)\nJoint Action 2008/851/CFSP should be amended accordingly,\nHAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:",
