# Council Decision of 24 February 2011 on the signing, on behalf of the Union, and provisional application of the Protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe (2011/296/EU), Article 1: Period of application and fishing opportunities


1. For a period of three years, the fishing opportunities granted to European Union vessels under Article 5 of the Fisheries Partnership Agreement shall be as follows:
Highly migratory species (species listed in Annex 1 to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea).
tuna seiners: 28 vessels,
surface longliners: 12 vessels.
2. Paragraph 1 shall apply subject to Articles 5, 6, 8 and 9 of this Protocol.
