Division 2.6.2 Information on requests for access to, or correction or deletion of alerts issued by other Member States

As far as is possible, information on alerts entered into the SIS by another Member State shall be exchanged via the national SIRENE bureaux.

The following procedure shall apply:

  1. (a)

    the request for access, correction or deletion shall be forwarded to the Member State that issued the alert as soon as possible, so that it can take a position on the question;

  2. (b)

    the issuing Member State shall inform the Member State that received the request of its position by providing all the necessary information to answer the request;

  3. (c)

    it shall take account of any legal deadlines set for processing the request;

  4. (d)

    the Member State receiving an enquiry from an individual for access, correction or deletion shall take all the necessary measures to ensure a timely response.

If the Member State that issued the alert sends its position to the SIRENE bureau of the Member State that received the request for access, correction or deletion, the SIRENE bureau shall ensure that the position is forwarded to the authority responsible for adjudication on the request as soon as possible.
