THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 305 thereof,

Having regard to the Act of Accession of the Republic of Croatia, and in particular Article 24 thereof,

Having regard to the proposal made by the Government of the Republic of Croatia,

Whereas:

On 22 December 2009 and on 18 January 2010, the Council adopted Decisions 2009/1014/EU^f1 and 2010/29/EU^f2 appointing the members and alternate members of the Committee of the Regions for the period from 26 January 2010 to 25 January 2015.

Following the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, the Committee of the Regions should be enlarged by the appointment of nine members and nine alternate members representing regional and local bodies in Croatia who either hold a regional or local authority electoral mandate or are politically accountable to an elected assembly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
