Article 12 Garbage

1.

The Contracting Party shall prohibit the disposal into the Protocol Area of the following products and materials:

(a)

All plastics, including but not limited to synthetic ropes, synthetic fishing nets and plastic garbage bags;

(b)

All other non-biodegradable garbage, including paper products, rags, glass, metal, bottles, crockery, dunnage, lining and packing materials.

2.

Disposal into the Protocol Area of food wastes shall take place as far away as possible from land, in accordance with international rules and standards.

3.

If garbage is mixed with other discharges having different disposal or discharge requirements, the more stringent requirements shall apply.
