  "heading": "Chair and Deputy Chair of the General Assembly",
  "text": "1. The General Assembly shall appoint by simple majority vote an independent Chair (the ‘Chair’), who must not be a National Representative and who shall comply with such criteria as are approved by the General Assembly when necessary.\nThe Chair shall be appointed for a term of 4 years, which shall be renewable. Prior to appointing the Chair, the General Assembly shall put forward written nominations of candidate(s) at least 3 weeks in advance of the meeting at which the Chair shall be appointed. The Chair shall take office as soon as possible after his/her appointment.\n2. The General Assembly shall appoint by simple majority vote a deputy Chair (the ‘Deputy Chair’) from among the National Representatives. The Deputy Chair shall be appointed for a term of 4 years, which shall be renewable. Prior to appointing the Deputy Chair, the General Assembly shall put forward written nominations of candidate(s) at least 3 weeks in advance of the meeting. The Deputy Chair shall take office as soon as possible after his/her appointment. The Deputy Chair shall assume all roles of the Chair in his/her absence.\n3. The General Assembly shall make the necessary arrangements in order to allow the first Chair and Deputy Chair to be appointed at the first meeting of the General Assembly.",
