  "text": "Council Decision (EU) 2020/1392\nof 2 October 2020\nappointing the members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the period from 21 September 2020 to 20 September 2025, and repealing and replacing the Council Decision appointing the members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the period 21 September 2020 to 20 September 2025 adopted on 18 September 2020\nTHE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,\nHaving regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 300(2) and Article 302 thereof,\nHaving regard to Council Decision (EU) 2019/853 of 21 May 2019 determining the composition of the European Economic and Social Committee,\nHaving regard to the proposals made by each Member State,\nAfter consulting the European Commission,\nWhereas:\n(1)\nPursuant to Council Decisions (EU, Euratom) 2015/1600 and (EU, Euratom) 2015/1790, the term of office of the current members of the European Economic and Social Committee expired on 20 September 2020. Members should therefore be appointed for a period of five years as from 21 September 2020.\n(2)\nEach Member State was requested to submit to the Council a list of candidates, consisting of representatives of organisations of employers, of the employed and of other parties representative of civil society, notably in socioeconomic, civic, professional and cultural areas, for appointment as members of the European Economic and Social Committee.\n(3)\nOn 18 September 2020 the Council adopted a Decision appointing the members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the period from 21 September 2020 to 20 September 2025 (‘Decision adopted on 18 September 2020’). However, the Annex to the Decision adopted on 18 September 2020 contained some material errors. Therefore, the Decision adopted on 18 September 2020 should be repealed and should be replaced by this Decision.\n(4)\nThis Decision should appoint the members of the European Economic and Social Committee for the period from 21 September 2020 to 20 September 2025. This Decision should therefore apply retroactively as from 21 September 2020,\nHAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:",
