# Council Directive 1999/31/EC of 26 April 1999 on the landfill of waste, Article 4: Classes of landfill

Extent: E+W+S+N.I.

Each landfill shall be classified in one of the following classes:
landfill for hazardous waste,
landfill for non-hazardous waste,
landfill for inert waste.
