"text": "ANNEX VI\nMeasurement of smoke opacity\n1.\nINTRODUCTION\n1.1.\nThis Annex describes the requirements for measuring the opacity of exhaust emissions from compression ignition engines.\n2.\nSYMBOL OF THE CORRECTED ABSORPTION COEFFICIENT\n2.1.\nA symbol of the corrected absorption coefficient shall be affixed to every vehicle conforming to a vehicle type to which this test applies. The symbol shall be a rectangle surrounding a figure expressing in m–1 the corrected absorption coefficient obtained, at the time of approval, from the test under free acceleration. The test method is described in section 4.\n2.2.\nThe symbol shall be clearly legible and indelible. It shall be fixed in a conspicuous and readily accessible place, the location of which shall be specified in the Addendum to the type-approval certificate shown in Annex VI to Directive 2005/55/EC of the European Parliament and the Council.\n2.3.\nFigure 1 gives an example of the symbol.\nFigure 1\nMinimum dimensions b = 5,6 mm\nThe above symbol shows that the corrected absorption coefficient is 1,30 m±1.\n3.\nSPECIFICATIONS AND TESTS\n3.1.\nThe specifications and tests shall be those set out in Part III, section 24, of UN/ECE Regulation No 24, with the exception described in section 3.2.\n3.2.\nThe reference to Annex 2 in paragraph 24.1 of UN/ECE Regulation No 24 shall be understood as reference to Annex VI to Directive 2005/55/EC.\n4.\nTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS\n4.1.\nThe technical requirements shall be those set out in Annexes 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of UN/ECE Regulation No 24, with the exceptions described in Sections 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.\n4.2.\nTest at steady speeds over the full load curve.\n4.2.1.\nThe references to Annex 1 in paragraphs 3.1 of Annex 4 to UN/ECE Regulation No 24 shall be understood as references to Annex II of Directive 2005/55/EC.\n4.2.2.\nThe reference fuel specified in paragraph 3.2 of Annex 4 to UN/ECE Regulation No 24 shall be understood as reference to the reference fuel in Annex IV to Directive 2005/55/EC which is appropriate to the emission limits against which the vehicle/engine is being type approved.\n4.3.\nTest under free acceleration.\n4.3.1.\nThe references to Table 2, Annex 2 in paragraph 2.2 of Annex 5 to UN/ECE Regulation No 24 shall be understood to refer to the table under point 1.7.2.1 of Annex VI to Directive 2005/55/EC.\n4.3.2.\nThe references to paragraph 7.3 of Annex 1 in paragraph 2.3 of Annex 5 to UN/ECE Regulation No 24 shall be understood as references to point 4 of Appendix 6 to Annex II to Directive 2005/55/EC.\n4.4.\n“ECE” method of measuring the net power of C.I. engines.\n4.4.1.\nThe references in paragraph 7 of Annex 10 to UN/ECE Regulation No 24 to the Appendix to this Annex shall be understood as references to Annex II of Directive 2005/55/EC.\n4.4.2.\nThe references in paragraphs 7 and 8 of Annex 10 to UN/ECE Regulation No 24 to Annex 1 shall be understood as references to Annex II of Directive 2005/55/EC.\nANNEX VII\nRequirements for the type-approval of s.i. engines fuelled by petrol\nPART 1\nCarbon monoxide emission test\n1.\nINTRODUCTION\n1.1.\nThis appendix describes the procedure for the test, measuring carbon monoxide emissions at idling speeds (normal and high).\n1.2.\nAt normal engine idling speed, the maximum permissible carbon monoxide content in the exhaust gases is that stated by the vehicle manufacturer. However, the maximum CO content shall not exceed 0,3 % volume. At high idle speed, the carbon monoxide content by volume of the exhaust gases shall not exceed 0,2 %, with the engine speed being at least 2 000 min–1 and Lambda being 1 ± 0,03 in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.\n2.\nGENERAL REQUIREMENTS\n2.1.\nThe general requirements shall be those set out in sections 5.3.7.1 to 5.3.7.4 of UN/ECE Regulation No 83.\n2.2.\nThe manufacturer shall complete the table set out in Annex VI to Directive 2005/55/EC based on the requirements set out in point 2.1.\n2.3.\nThe manufacturer shall confirm the accuracy of the Lambda value recorded at the time of type-approval in section 2.1 as being representative of typical production vehicles within 24 months of the date of the granting of type-approval by the technical service. An assessment shall be made on the basis of surveys and studies of production vehicles.\n3.\nTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS\n3.1.\nThe technical requirements shall be those set out in Annex 5 to UN/ECE Regulation No 83, with the exceptions set out in section 3.2.\n3.2.\nThe reference fuels specified in paragraph 2.1 of section 2 of Annex 5 to UN/ECE Regulation No 83 shall refer to the appropriate reference to fuel specifications contained in Annex IX to Regulation (Euro 5 and 6 implementing Regulation).\nPART 2\nVerifying emissions of crankcase gases\n1.\nINTRODUCTION\n1.1.\nThis part describes the procedure for verifying emissions of crankcase gases.\n1.2.\nWhen tested in accordance with this part, the engine's crankcase ventilation system shall not permit the emission of any of the crankcase gases into the atmosphere.\n2.\nGENERAL REQUIREMENTS\n2.1.\nThe general requirements for conducting the test shall be those set out in section 2 of Annex 6 to UN/ECE Regulation No 83.\n3.\nTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS\n3.1.\nThe technical requirements shall be those set out in section 3 to 6 of Annex 6 to UN/ECE Regulation No 83.",
