Member States shall ensure that seed of a conservation variety may only be produced in the region of origin.\nIf the seed cannot be produced in that region, due to a specific environmental problem, Member States may approve additional regions for seed production taking into account information from plant genetic resource authorities or from organisations recognised for this purpose by the Member States.
