# Directive (EU) 2017/2397 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2017 on the recognition of professional qualifications in inland navigation and repealing Council Directives 91/672/EEC and 96/50/EC (Text with EEA relevance), Annex III: ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS REGARDING MEDICAL FITNESS

Medical fitness, comprising of physical and psychological fitness, means not suffering from any disease or disability which makes the person serving on board a craft unable to:
execute the tasks necessary to operate a craft;
perform assigned duties at any time; or
perceive their environment correctly.
The examination shall, in particular, cover visual and auditory acuity, motor functions, the neuro-psychiatric state and cardiovascular conditions.
