# Council Regulation (EC) No 1255/97 of 25 June 1997 concerning Community criteria for control posts and amending the route plan referred to in the Annex to Directive 91/628/EEC, Article 6

1. Before the animals leave the control post, the official veterinarian or any veterinarian designated for this purpose by the relevant competent authority shall confirm on the journey log as referred to in ... Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 that the animals are fit to continue their journey. The Appropriate Minister may stipulate that expenditure incurred as a result of the veterinary check shall be borne by the operator concerned.
