# Regulation (EC) No 999/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2001 laying down rules for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies, Article 11: Notification

Any person who suspects an animal of being infected by a TSE must immediately notify the relevant competent authority.
The competent authority shall without delay take the measures laid down in Article 12 of this Regulation, together with any other necessary measures.
