# Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 of 22 December 2004 on the protection of animals during transport and related operations and amending Directives 64/432/EEC and 93/119/EC and Regulation (EC) No 1255/97, Division 2: The training courses referred to in paragraph 1 shall include at least the technical and administrative aspects of assimilated law concerning the protection of animals during transport and in particular the following items:

Extent: E+W+S+N.I.

(a)Articles 3 and 4 and Annexes I and II;
(b)animal physiology and in particular drinking and feeding needs, animal behaviour and the concept of stress;
(c)practical aspects of handling of animals;
(d)impact of driving behaviour on the welfare of the transported animals and on the quality of meat;
(e)emergency care for animals;
(f)safety considerations for personnel handling animals.
