  "text": "The Annex to Regulation (EC) No 831/97 is amended as follows:\n1.. Title II (Provisions concerning quality) is amended as follows:\n(a) in point A (Minimum requirements), the second subparagraph is replaced by the following:\n‘Avocados must be firm and carefully picked.’\n(b) the following point Aa is inserted:\n‘Aa.\nMaturity\nThe development of the avocados should have reached a physiological stage which will ensure a continuation of the ripening process to completion.\nThe fruit should have the following minimum dry matter content, to be measured by drying to constant weight:\n21 % for the variety Hass,\n20 % for the varieties Fuerte, Pinkerton, Reed and Edranol,\n19 % for the other varieties except for Antillean varieties that may show a lower dry matter content.\nThe ripe fruit should be free from bitterness.’\n2.. Title III (Provisions concerning sizing) is amended as follows:\n(a) in the table of the first subparagraph, the following line is added:\nThe difference between the smallest and largest fruit within a package should not exceed 25 g.\n‘80 to 125 (Hass variety only)\nS’\n(b) The second subparagraph is replaced by the following:\n‘The minimum weight of avocados must not be less than 125 g except for avocados of the Hass variety, which must not be less than 80 g.’",
