This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

It shall apply from 1 January 2007. However, Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 of Chapter 8 of Regulation (EC) No 1973/2004 as amended by Article 1(3) of this Regulation shall apply from 1 January 2008.
